Every year, the vineyard presents us a classroom of soil and sun. With each harvest we learn something new. No two seasons are the same, each one offering us fresh lessons in the art and science of winemaking.

The Wines
Winemaker

ANDREA CARD is the winemaker at Academia, and in addition to that role, is a current Board member of the Alexander Valley Winegrowers in Sonoma County. She is a fourth-generation Sonoma County native with roots of wine dating back before Prohibition, when her great-grandparents grew Petite Sirah and Carignane in the Alexander Valley.
Andrea loves everything about nature and processes. She is an avid competitor in Logging Sports, a sport derived from the traditional work in the woods such as log chopping, throwing axes and cross-cut sawing. When not competing throughout the country and Australia as a member of the U.S. Women’s Team, she can be found on the lake water skiing, crafting, and enjoying time with family, friends, and pets. She lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, Casey, and daughter, Avonell. She is excited to be in Sonoma County sourcing grapes and making wines that have long been a part of her heritage.
